MACHIYA RESIDENCE INN offers more than 70 private Japanese ‘machiya’ holiday homes (traditional Japanese-style house) for you to choose from during your next visit to Japan!

Instead of staying in typical hotels in Japan, stay in one of our self-catering traditional Japanese houses and immerse yourself in local life for a truly unique experience.
Each of our ‘machiya’ holiday houses (vacation rentals) have been carefully renovated to preserve not only the historical atmosphere of each Japanese architecture, but the surrounding townscape, too. In addition, we have taken care to update each machiya house with modern facilities to ensure that you have a relaxing and comfortable stay.

Designed to Suit your Needs

Each of our traditional Japanese ‘machiya’ houses are uniquely designed - no two are exactly the same. Depending on the machiya house that you choose to rent, you will be able to stay with up to 4 ~ 9 guests.

Bedrooms

The perfect blend of traditional Japanese architecture and modern design, MACHIYA RESIDENCE INN holiday homes feature both Japanese-style rooms with futon bedding & Western-style rooms with comfortable beds.^* *The layout and style of room may differ depending on the reserved machiya house.

Fully-Equipped Kitchens

Whether you are staying with us for 2 days or 2 months, MACHIYA RESIDENCE INN ‘machiya’ holiday homes are ideal for both short & long-term stays. Our ‘machiya’ include fully furnished kitchens, which include cooking utensils, kitchen appliances, dish ware, and more. *Please take a look at each individual holiday house rental page for more information.

Modern Bathrooms

Imagine relaxing in a bath with a Japanese garden view, or surrounded by the warm atmosphere of hinoki wood. Each bathroom has been renovated to ensure that you are refreshed. A full range of amenities are available: bath amenities, towels, hair dryer, our original shampoo, conditioner and body soap, and more.

Every machiya is equipped with additional amenities for your comfort and convenience, including a washing machine with detergent, air conditioner with heater, heated flooring, TV and free WiFi.^* *Amenities may differ depending on your reserved plan.
