Kyoto has a lively coffee culture, and you can enjoy a taste of it in the guest lounge at THE MACHIYA KAZAHAYA. Start your day with coffee from one of our favorite local roasters, or stop by for a cup later on. Coffee, green tea, and black tea are complimentary throughout your stay.
While you’re relaxing in the lounge, ask our guest services team for recommendations on nearby places to visit and Kyoto restaurants to try. You’re always welcome to stop by for a drink, a chat, or a quiet break between outings.
The guest lounge retains wooden beams from the original machiya and features a gōtenjō (coffered ceiling) inspired by designs at Nijo Castle. Gather around the large wooden table, or browse Japanese and English books on antiques, art, and Kyoto. Pick up a book, enjoy a drink, and stay a while.
