7:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Start your morning in a calming, traditional machiya atmosphere.
Prepared by our in-house chefs with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, choose between a Japanese-style or Western-style breakfast. Our Japanese breakfast is rooted around homemade dashi — a slow-drawn broth of kombu and bonito that flavors every dish on the table. The Western breakfast includes a hearty panini sandwich, paired with seasonal salads, homemade granola with yogurt, and more. Coffee is brewed using specialty espresso beans, and we also serve Kyoto-grown Japanese tea.

Open to both hotel guests and the general public.
THE MACHIYA LOUNGE is housed within a late 19th-century machiya townhouse, an example of traditional Kyoto craftsmanship built by a master carpenter of his time.
The machiya architecture was originally the home of the Nakamura family, who had found success as merchants, and was constructed during the late Edo to early Meiji period. Built in the Ōhori-zukuri style, the characteristic small eaves, latticed windows, surrounding walls, and gardens throughout the property all reflect the care and taste of the people who once lived here. The building has since been recognized by the City of Kyoto as a Structure of Landscape Importance.
