It\u2019s a peaceful, festive way to enjoy the subtle joys of a traditional Japanese summer celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Held at <strong>Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine <\/strong>from July 19 to August 23<strong> (18:00\uff5e20:30),<\/strong> the shrine will be decorated with around 2,000 colorful glass wind chimes. We recommend this special event to anyone visiting Takayama as a unique way to enjoy a traditional Japanese summer evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival also features a fun hands-on activity where you can paint and decorate your own wind chime to take home as a souvenir, or write a wish on a <em>h\u014dn\u014d f\u016brin<\/em> (\u5949\u7d0d\u98a8\u9234), a wind chime offered as a prayer or dedication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival is free to enter, and the shrine is about a <strong>20\u201324 minute walk from Takayama Station<\/strong>, or just a few steps from the <strong>\u201cHachimangu-mae\u201d bus stop<\/strong>. Whether you&#8217;re traveling with family, friends, or solo, be a part of the festival to enjoy summer in Hida-Takayama.
